Magical Night Sky Egg
Green Xireth - Cyndii
From the Magical Night Sky Egg will emerge a dragon destined to be a large green. Xireth will be a medium colored green, with a thick dark green band encircling her just above where her body and legs meet and very light colored headknobs and eyeridges. Size wise Xireth is about average for a green and proportional. She will never be more than an average flier, but she'll make it for it in other ways.
Based on Asterix Magic Potion
Shadows of Red Egg
Brown Wolphath - Jasson
The dragon within the Shadow’s of Red egg will make no attempts to hide his hunger. Before this hatchling is even out of his shell he’ll be making whining noises, wanting food. In fact before the first crack appears Wolphath will be sending out little mindvoice cries asking to be fed.
Based on Big Bad Wolf
If I'm Good Egg
Why did the most wonderful snack have to appear on an egg where no one could have it? What a horrible way to tease those craving a dessert. Maybe Foreth will be nice enough to just let some of the Candidates lick the surface. Even in the off chance she did, they'd only be disappointed. It is, after all, just an egg.
Bronze Thayloth - Vyoton
Noticeably from the onset, Thayloth will be a very large dragon once he hits his full growth. Not only will be large in height and length, but he will be a physically imposing dragon. Thayloth is a dark bronze and nearly uniform in color except for a lighter patch on his chest like a bib, and his unusually large headknobs which are darker still than the rest of his hide.
Based on Bigwig- Thlayli
Tree Within the Trees Egg
Is there more within the egg? There's bound to be at least one Candidate determined to probe the mysteries of this egg, but though they'll stare at it this way and that it's hard to know whether they'll find anything else in its depths.
Bronze Nomoth - Lyringran
Bronzes are supposed to be big, right? Not Nomoth, he's destined to be on the small end for bronzes, at least height and length wise. Bulk wise he will more than make up for his lack of sheer size. He will be built more like a wher than a dragon with his thick legs, barrelled chest, and short, thick tail. Built as he is, Nomoth will be one of the slowest flying and turning dragons in the sky, but he will excel in the stamina department, able to outfly most bronzes.
Based on David - Secret of the gnomes
Brightly Coloured Petals
Such flowerbeds are of course a luxury in this Fall turns when they must be protected from Fall. Wild flowers are a more common sight than cultivated flower-beds now. Still, older folk may see this egg and remember how it used to be not so long ago.
Blue Murinuth - Kimasona
Some dragons are just born to love pretty things. Perhaps it was the first sight of his egg that caused it, but from Hatching Murinuth will love flowers. If they haven't already got an interest in gardening, it would be good for his chosen lifemate to cultivate one, as Murinuth will hanker for flowers wherever he is - preferable ones that are satill growing. Nothing will make him happier than being able to curl up and nap next to - or sometimes in the middle of - a bed of flowers.
Based on Dormouse
Patterns of the Sun Egg
Of course an Egg can't do that, so perhaps it is the Hatchling inside welcoming Candidates to touch and be inspired by the Patterns of the sun that mark its Egg-shell so distinctively.
Blue Elharaith - Meganra (Meg)
Elharaith is a finely proportioned mid to dark blue, with one notable feature that will be evident from the moment he exits out of his egg backwards. His hindquarters are unusually well developed. Not fat, no, but all lean muscle and with a tail that has an unusual splash of vivid pale sky blue on the underside that is very eye catching when he flicks it around.
Based on El-Ahrairah
Holder of Ice Egg
Should the shine be silver or white made no difference. Just one golden markings on an egg means absolute nothing, just about any color besides gold could reside inside. Not that such facts hinder the air of importance the egg keeps around itself. When hatching time comes the dragon who comes from this shell would have many expectation to live up against.
Any color besides bronze would need go long ways to maintain the noble bearring that such an egg has begun.
Green Ellieth - Savina
It is not a bronze that steps from the Holder of the Ice Egg, but a delicate green. From the minute she is hatched she will look every bit as regal as her egg suggests, almost as regal as a gold actually. She will be a light green color except for rings of darker green that look like wreaths of nettles around her forelegs and a very, very light green flower-shaped blob on the left side of her chest.
Based on Elise
Sunset Fields Egg
Bronze Vulnoth - Verner
Vulnoth is a leader through and through, but just because he has the ability to lead doesn't always mean he wants to. He sees leading as a necessary evil, though he'd gladly give over control if he had the chance and will share it when the opportunity arises. He'll be the first to admit that he doesn't know the answer to everything and that sometimes people need to pool their resources and abilities to get by.
Based on Fox- Animals of Farthing Wood
There's Something There Egg
But, most curiously, there are little brown and purple splotches all over the egg. Are they meant to be flowers? Clumps of dirt? That's it! Maybe the bad little egg secretly rolled around in the dirt after it was laid, and got all dirty. It's the Candidates' duty to clean the egg then, right? Now if only Foreth will just cooperate someone can wipe off the ugly dirt splotches and everyone will get to see the real beauty underneath.
Green Cheswath - Nelasi
Long before Cheswath breaks out of her egg her siblings and dam will know her one true love. Eating! Oh she'll love her lifemate just as any dragon would but food will come a close second. Eating will occupy as much time as she can get away with, and them some. And when she can't eat she'll still be thinking about food, concocting great stories of how food really grows on trees and falls from the skies when she's supposed to be listening to important Weyrling lessons.
Based on Grandfather
Ruffled Furs Egg
Green Hoeketh - Kimomil
No one will ever accuse Hoeketh of being a workaholic. Quite the opposite. To her work is just a nuisance put in her way to keep her from having fun. Instead she spends most of her time coming up with ways to avoid work or, better yet, to get someone else to do her work for her. In fact, if she spent as much time actually doing the work put to her as trying to con her way out of it she would probably waste less effort. Her con jobs are usually at best annoying and usually don't get her far, though should she ever hit the right idea she could cause a lot of havoc some day, like convincing her lifemate that the fastest way to feed her is to just dump the bucket down her throat so she won't have to tear the pieces up. Not likely to happen, but if it ever did...
Based on Hokey Pokey
Beauty Is Infectious
And really, it's almost impossible to touch that pretty red surface without thinking just how pretty you look yourself beside it. That crimson colouring brings out the roses in girls' cheeks, its shine brings out the sparkle in their eyes. Impress the dragon in this Egg, and everyone would see you for what you are, or could be - beauty of the Weyr.
Green Hansith - Zheullane
Hansith is born with a vanity she cannot seem to supress, no matter how hard she tries. She is a pretty enough little green certainly, small and daintily made, her hide a deep dark green. Hansith wishes to be more than pretty however. She wishes to be *beautiful*. She will beg for more oilings from her lifemate, and plead for pretty things - special ornate straps, even human jewellry to hang from her headknobs and show off. Before she grows too big, she may even be naughty enough to nose through a few Weyrlings' things ad try to drape herself with the prettiest of human clothes.
Based on Karen
The Sea Sick Egg
To the touch there is something about this egg that is a little disorientating. It is almost as if it is rocking gently with an even rhythm. If you hold it too long, you may find yourself rocking in time, even though the egg itself is really not moving at all! Don't stay too long though, or you might feel slightly sick!
Green Psuwolth - Nky
Psuwolth is a graceful pea green dragon, delicately boned and shaped showing clear elegance. The colours that cover her hide almost resemble the colour of the egg she hatched from. She has a slightly elongated muzzle and her wings are slightly wider from tip to tip than the average green.
Based on Owl and Pussy Cat
The Happy Golden Egg
Blue Poth - Tenya
This hatchling is a darkish mottled blue. In some lights the mottling can look almost unkempt, a bit like unruly fur on a feline. He is reasonably short in length for a blue, but still has the width of an average blue dragon. This can make him look quite portly, as though he has spent too much time eating herd beasts and not enough time flying. Indeed, this is a dragon who likes his food (and the sweeter, the better), and his rider will have to be careful to make sure that he does not over indulge and make himself ill.
Based on Pooh
Stormy Green Egg
What they will notice, if the Egg's slightly smaller appearance didn't niggle, might certainly attract more than its fair share of looks. The varying green colors, light to dark, seem to writhe on the surface, rolling around like water churned up by a storm. The lighter color at once lures the observer in and at the same time the darker, almost malvolent colors push the observer away, as if it can't decide whether it truly wants to be touched or not. Only time will tell whether the dragon within is so fussy.
Green Paeth - Bayleigh
Paeth, from the minute she pokes a claw up through her egg enough to allow her dam and siblings to hear her better, will be demanding. The minute that hole is open she'll complain that her egg is too uncomfortable and someone else must surely help her out of it. When some hapless dragon succumbs from her wiles she'll have to find something else to complain about and complain about and complain about.
Based on Princess and the Pea
Heap Of Sand
Indeed, if someone *does* hover close by despite that and watch it for too long (or even, Faranth forbid, *touch* it) it will flinch away, giving a kind of squirm to try to bury itself deeper.
Go look at the other eggs. This one doesn't want your attention.
Green Sammyath - Lerrah
In Hatching, Sammyath managed to injure her left headknob slightly (note to Hatching writer: make sure this happens!). Although this injury should have healed quickly enough, Sammyth will insist that it never really did. The cry of ((Oh, my left headknob!)) is one his rider will grow well used to hearing whenever Sammyath is upset or stressed for the rest of their lives.
Based on Psammead
The Whispering Wind Egg
To the touch the egg feels exactly as you would expect: a cooling sensation whirls under your fingers, and air seems to flow gently round them as if the egg has wind currents all of its own. There is definitely something mysterious and hypnotic about this egg, and it is hard to leave it sitting on the sands.
Brown Wrattieth - Gunnar
The little brown that come from the Whispering Wind Egg is simply adorable. You think cute the moment you lay eyes upon him. He has such small, delicate features for a brown, more like those you’d expect in a blue, or even a green, but not a brown. He’s not disproportioned at all in any way, his entire frame is small and delicate. He has small, neat headknobs, and his eyes are sparkling and whirling luminescent right from the start in the most amazing darkest of dark blues. He has a long thin tail, in fact his tail though not out of proportion with the rest of him does seem to be sleeker and thinner than most, and that could have to do with the coloring.
Based on Rattie - Wind in the willows
The Festive Bells Egg
The shell, looking like a small pile of decorative bauballs, feels to the touch as though it is active, moving, as though the hatchling inside is eager to get out and meet you. Who knows, perhaps this will really will be your dragon.
Green Horsheth - Liara
Horseheth will burst from her festive egg and immediately want to be noticed. She will not so much walk as prance, a habit she will amazingly keep up even after she reaches her full size. This habit of showing off will follow her into the air, a much more appropriate place for a large green to flounce than on the ground where people can be trampled.
Based on Ride a cock horse
Strangely Delicate Egg
Dare to touch it, risking damaging it further, and you will find it feels quite pleasant under the fingers. The shell is warm, feeling leathery in patches, shiny-smooth in others as though that leatheriness has already been rubbed away by too many questing hands.
It seems fragile, half-broken, but underneath that fragility there is a solidness. It may not be the prettiest egg on the Sands, but it is determined it will still be here when Hatching Day comes.
Blue Skith - Elayne
Just as his egg could never claim to be pretty, nor can Skith himself. The little blue will be Hatched, already looking as though he has been worn-out. For the whole of his life, his hide will suffer from itchy dry patches that never seem to truly calm no matter how much oil is used, and stand out paler than the ret of his dark blue hide. His head-knobs are slightly crooked, his tail too thin in proportion to the rest of his body.
Based on Skin Horse
Moonlight Prowl Egg
Green Whistleth - Yonsilma
Whistleth is rather small as green dragons go, but her personality seems to fill that lack of feet and inches and more beside. Her main defining characteristic is that of curiousity - well, actually that's too soft a word for her. Whistleth is nosey with a capital Nose! She loves to know what is going on, and the only time you won't know she is there is the times when she sneaks around (something she has disturbing skill at doing even from the Egg) trying to eavesdrop.
Based on Sooty - Mr Pinkwhistle
The Dark Metal Egg
Green Slautreth - Oaelsi
This green should have been a blue, no…a brown. Wait, this green should have been a bronze, yes, a bronze. She’s all business right from the shell. Her small hatchling body is anything but tiny. Those hatchling muscles are huge! There was no way she could have exercised in that shell, but those muscles on her hatchling form are unbelievable. She’s come from the shell with her forehead crinkled, her head knobs low on her eye ridges and she looks more intimidating than any green has a right to look. Her dark khaki coloring isn’t uniform on her, even if it is the color that makes up the majority of her hide. The other shades that mingle with her are dark Kelly green, an even darker green that is so dark it almost appears black but we all know it isn’t, and several greens shaded in between light and medium. She’d be able to blend in with the jungle instantly if her whirling eyes were closed and their luminescent appearance didn’t give her away. Slauterth is going to grow strong and fast into a green heavily muscled the size of a small blue and she’s going to be a dragon to contend with no matter what your color.

Wishes and Flowers Egg
But has there ever been an egg where the pattern seems to look like letters arranged in words? Surely it's an illusion, but some would swear that the words 'my own' and 'dragon' are etched onto the surface. And of course those words were meant for them, and for them only. The egg could only be meant for them alone, an egg flown in on the flower petals stretched out like wings, and carrying their plea to the dragon inside and Foreth for a lifemate of their own.
Only Hatching Day will reveal the truth, but more than one Candidate will be eager for the day they can get close enough to inspect the surface for any hint that the note will be their own.
Green Jolliath - Traylen
Jolliath thinks she's a flit. Well, not really. She just has a penchant for transporting messages and such. This will be cute when she's a young dragon and she can still move around inside the Barracks easily enough, but it will not be so cute when she is full grown and doesn't want to wait patiently for the recipient to come outside or to the ledge. She will also have the unfortunate annoying habit of getting confused easily curteousy of her green memory and will forget or lose any messages entrusted to her. This will improve slightly when she's older, but she'll never have the greatest memory.
Based on The Jolly Postman
Warm My Egg
All that it actually lacks is a body. Do wings alone keep bird eggs warm?
But is it a bird, wherry or something else that'd be completely impossible? From what covers the shell there's a beauty too honest for it to be something impossible... And too pretty for being something a wherry would leave behind but what bird would possess such grandeur? For grandeur is everything this egg offers. Nobody will find either shyness or cruelty anywhere amid the presence this eggs projects throughout the Hatching Sands
People cannot overlook this eggs since it quite distinct has a form meant to call the right kind of attention to itself. The gentler, more caring types are what it certainly seeks.
Brown Nighleth - Wasser
While the Warm My Egg is not likely to be overlooked, poor Nighleth is destined to be often missed. At first glance he is pretty and worthy of extra attention, until a more beautiful or entertaining or smart or athletic sibling comes along then he'll be lost in the background somewhere. This suits Nighleth just fine most of the time, he rather hates the spotlight, but without a lifemate who is willing to speak up for him any accomplishments or problems that come up may be lost in the shuffle.
Based on The Nightingale
The Strange Fungus Egg
Candidates won’t want to touch this egg, why would they? Whatever contagion it has might just rub off. This ugly egg is something that should really be hidden, but like all the eggs it will have a moment in the spotlight. All eggs need heat and sunlight and this one will be no exception, it will need to bake its shell like all the rest. What sort of dragon lies within is a mystery as usual. One can only hope that it’s not covered in a hide remotely like it’s shell, what person would want to have anything to do with an ugly, fungus covered lifemate?
Green Swaneth - Selisia
When this hatchling breaks out of its shell and curious eyes fall upon it to see if the fungus was more than shell deep, they’ll be surprised. Dark blotches seem to cover this little green. Blotches they’re sure can only mean one thing, as soon as the little girl uncurls herself completely and dries off she’ll be fungus covered too.
Based on The Ugly Duckling
The Warty Egg
green Belinath - Machte
From such a warty, strange egg there is little hope that the dragon inside is going to come out anything but ugly. Fascination will surround this egg as the little one inside pushes free of such an unsightly shell. Leaving the warty shell this pale hatchling will surprise everyone with her gorgeous spring green hide.
Based on Thumbelina
Weavers Delight Egg
it seems an odd eclectic and almost magical sort of an Egg. Certainly, many Candidates first reaction will be one of wonder and then trying to work out how it could possibly have come to be a living thing made out of something that look so like cloth. Maybe to the right Candidate it will reveal its mysteries!
Blue Koetith - Lorcico
Koetith is one of those unfortunate blues that will never be on the big enough end of the blue spectrum to have extra stamina, nor to be small enough to really be more agile. No, poor Koetith will be a medium sized, plump blue, and not the most handsome one at that. He has no neck to speak of so that his large head seems to attach directly to his rotund body. Yet somehow he manages to be thin in both fore and hindlegs, giving him a bit of a mismatched look and making him awkward on the ground.

Fathom the Mysteries Egg
Green Unicoth - Chyan
Some dragons are hatched aloof and not particularly interested in the feelings of other dragons. Others are hatched within an inate need to bring happiness to others, Unicoth is one such dragon. From the moment she butts her egg open with a well placed slam of her headknobs she will want to bring happiness to those around her. She will be a people pleaser with most of her free moments spent asking the dragons around her what things make them happy and how she can get those things for them. The more outrageous the request the harder she will work to get it.
Based on Unico -- Toby
