R'dhaeName Pronounced: raday Appearance: R'dhae is a rough and rugged looking man. He is brawny and well built at 6 feet 1 inch. His hair and beard appear blackstone black, but in the bright sunlight will prove to be darkest brown. His brown eyes can sparkle with love, mischief, or fun, but if those eyes narrow and a look of warning and anger fills them you had best run for cover. He has a ready smile that can win friends or melt a woman's heart. But when the look of mischief crosses his eyes he can look positively sinister. Okay, so the guy is just pure ruggedly handsome. Personality: R'dhae is a man's man and sure of himself. He has a strong confidence, but an almost childlike joy with the mysteries of life and the changes it can bring. For instance childbirth mystifies him. He has a thirst for knowledge and adventure which made him seem odd for his first chosen craft in healer. He is proficient in fighting, perhaps a bit too good at it, but luckily that ability is tempered with his training as a healer. He knows what damage he can do. He can inflict the damage, but then may turn around and try to repair the wound. History: R'dhae grew up in High Reaches Weyr as a weyrbrat known as Radhae. The son of a bronzerider and a High Reaches Weyr journeyman healer mother. He saw the father enough although the man seemed to have more flightlusted children than he could count with other mothers. He kept coming back to R'dhae's mother though so R'dhae actually got to know his father. The bronzerider saw some dragonrider potential in this son and took the boy under his wing, at least when it was convenient, and R'dhae learned of dragons. The father encouraged the boy to stand at every hatching as soon as he turned 12, but R'dhae just never seemed to be a chosen. At the age of 14 when it was appearing to the father that his son was a lost cause, the father lost interest in the boy and saw him very little. R'dhae's mother had quietly been watching and training the boy in the healer arts from a very young age almost without him realizing it. It just seemed like a mother who prefered to have her son always with her. At age 14, with a gentle nudge from his mother assisted by promptings from a few of the weyr healers, Radhae was finally persuaded to explore the craft of healer. So life went on as he trained as a healer never really thinking about trying other crafts. His eyes though often roamed to the dragons around the Weyr with a secret longing to be a rider himself. Information about R'dhae's pets Pet Name: Rom Pet Type: brown Callamere firelizard Appearance: Rom is light brown in color. Standard looking size brown Callamere. Personality: Rom's was the second egg that hatched of the three eggs R'dhae bought at Gather. Rom doesn't have any ideosyncracies that R'dhae has noticed like the other two. Rom is just a steady, solid presence and seems a little more obediently trainable for delivering information and notes. Second Pet Name: Trance Pet Type: gold wild firelizard Appearance: Trance's color is a darker gold. She is petite with a well formed little body. R'dhae bought her egg, a brown Callamere egg, and a wher egg from the 2005 ET Gather. Personality: Trance was the first of the three eggs R'dhae bought at Gather to hatch. She got her name from the way the little gold seems in a trance as she concentrates or looks at something. She seems hypnotized at times. Rather than stealing shiny objects Trance will sit and stare at them mesmorized. R'dhae isn't sure whether it is a genetic defect in the flit or just her own personal little quirk. Other than this she is a totally normal firelizard. Trance will on occasion deliver notes for R'dhae, but only when her highness is in the mood. Third Pet Name: Harper Pet Type: blue wher Appearance: A darker blue between blue and navy blue. He isn't a handsome wher by any standards, but he is a solid little guy. Personality: Harper vocalizes a lot. He croons to himself in a strange little vocalization. Either he is neurotic or just enjoys it, but when just sitting, the little guy rocks on his haunches. He learned finally that flits are not food, well at least his two housemate flits, wild gold Trance and brown Callamere Rom. He has decided that he won't hurt any flits indoors, but any flits, other than Trance and Rom, when he is outdoors are fairgame. R'dhae is training him to leave all flits alone, but he still needs work. The fact that he hatched last of the three eggs gave the other two flits time to get settled in before Harper hatched which helped in his training. Not the smartest of whers, but fairly docile except when those he had adopted are threatened. Harper prefers to nap indoors. He enjoys occasional trips outside, but hates his goggles. He finally learned daylight hurts his eyes and he has to have them to go outside. Information about R'dhae's dragon Dragon Name: Androth Colour: Bronze Age: 18 Wing (Weyrling Group): Direflame Appearance: Androth is a little on the large side of the bronze dragon size at least length-wise, but it's only noticable in the air or when he stretches to his full length. His general body girth is about average for a bronze. His wing span is also about average. Androth's hide is the darker color of bronze. A few small threadscore scars show on his left side. He has been lucky so far and knows it. Personality: Imagine if you will, a dragon that is a mildly bi-polar where his reactions to events and his success at them are concerned. Androth is a strong, smart, capable bronze and will always give 100 percent of effort. He is smart enough and does what he does well. His only weakness would be that little matter of self-esteem. When Androth succeeds brilliantly at something, the bronze is surprised and happy about it to the point of excited. If he fails or doesn't perform up to his own expectations, which are quite high even for a bronze, Androth is prone to feel that he is a failure and mope about it. R'dhae has to back off from casual races unless they are part of drills. Luckily for R'dhae, dragons have relatively short memories and Androth forgets why he was moping. Despite his odd mood swings, Androth is the type of dragon you would want under you or your wingmate. Like any healthy bronze, Androth goes after the golds and greens that rise. To R'dhae's surprise early on, the self-esteem issue doesn't seem to apply during mating chases. Androth considers chasing golds a career move. Chasing greens is a game since there are so many of them. If he catches one, fine, if he doesn't, well there is always tomorrow. He goes on about his day tired and just goes hunting. Weyr of Origin: High Reaches Abilites and weaknesses: Strong able flyer and threadfighter. A problem with self-esteem.
