K'layuCharacter type: Dragonrider Appearance: K'layu is certainly not the tallest of riders but he does stand at a fair height of 5'11", which is a height he has no complaints about. He has dark coal black hair that is cropped short just below mid-ear level, looking slightly ruffled but not overly so. The hair near the back of his head is slightly longer, flowing down to end just below his ears. His hair is parted neatly on both sides and looks best when it is swept back. He has short coal black bangs that spike out forward and tend to be a bit unruly. He likes to keep them swept back as well if he can. His eyebrows are of medium thickness and are coal black in color with a slight arch to them. His eyes are a light shade of sky blue in color and are somewhat striking to see. His eyes are very expressive and allow him to convey his emotions, whether it be with an angry glare or a compassionate gaze. His nose is of medium size and is rather angular, though other than that it has little distinguishing features. His lips are just slightly less than medium thickness and his top lip is slightly thinner than his bottom lip. His angular jaw and cheekbones give him a more pronounced look, and the semi-oval shape of his face increases that even more. His shoulders are slightly muscular but they are also angular, sloping gently downward before rounding off. His upper arms also hold a fair bit of muscle, enough for him to be considered semi-muscular. Across his right elbow is a nasty purplish pink threadscore scar that is about three inches in length. His hands are slightly calloused but not overly so, just enough to show that he has done a fair bit of work in his lifetime. Upon the back of his left hand is a small silvery-white scar that is an inch in length. His chest is semi-muscular and compact and thankfully free of scars, though the muscles of his chest are rather pronounced. His stomach is also rippled with muscle, though it isn't as obvious as the muscles of his chest. Semi-muscular but lanky legs help to improve upon his wiry semi-muscular build. He has a small scar of the ankle of his left leg, likely a reminder of a tunnelsnake bite in the past. Just above his right ankle is a tattoo of a brown firelizard, most likely a representation of his desire to eventually get one. Personality: K'layu can be serious at times, but only when it is needed, such as during threadfall or emergencies. He is often cheerful and optimistic, for his dragon has taught him that he can't control everything is life and that bad things may happen. His dragon also taught him to live every moment as if it were his last and to enjoy life to the fullest. He is generally thoughtful and open-minded when it comes to listening to the opinions of others, and he will often ask the opinion of others before coming to a conclusion about an important decision. Like his dragon he has a mentor-like attitude and he is a wealth of information when it comes to certain subjects. He has a thirst for knowledge and will often go through dusty old records or even buy the rare book in order to learn more. His favorite quote would likely be 'Knowledge is Power'. Not that he's exactly power hungry but knowledge certainly does come in handy for all sorts of things. K'layu is a people person and is happiest when he's in a group. He doesn't mind being the center of attention and he likes to tell stories. He accepts people for who they are and doesn't try to change them and he treats everyone with an equal share of respect. He is rather modest and doesn't make much of his own abilities however, and if he is complimented he tends to blush. K'layu is swift-thinking and reactive, which can be handy during threadfall when leaning to the side may mean the difference between a major or minor score. He's generally even-tempered and he'll likely walk away if someone truly manages to anger him. He tends to be a bit more considerate of the feelings of others than his dragon is and isn't quite as blunt. In fact he's actually quite subtle, rather the opposite of Kintoth. He is willing to trust people but prefers to be self-reliant so that he doesn't have to depend on others. He has a fairly good sense of humor, even if it does tend to be in the gutter a lot of the time. Criticism is something he isn't good at handling, that is unless it's criticism from his own dragon. He and his dragon get along most of the time, but they will argue every once in a while if they have a conflict in opinion. Unfortunately K'layu isn't very good at winning arguments and usually gives in. History: Kolayu's upbringing was nothing less than ordinary. He was born in Igen Weyr, a first child for his parents. His mother was Zakaklana, rider of green Caylorenaeth and his father was H'lauku, rider of brown Hasukiioth. And like a lot of weyrbrats he was the result of a flight. The only difference was the flight wasn't completely random, since his parents were weyrmates. His mother's Caylorenaeth would allow no other dragon than his father's Hasukiioth catch her. His parents wanted to raise him after he was born but they couldn't do it because of their duties as riders, so they had no choice but to give Kolayu up to the creche. Kolayu was a rather quiet and serious child who was very observant. Later he grew in popularity with other weyrbrats, for he was able to come up with many different games and was willing to play when they were. He was frequently visited by his parents but when his mother and her green Caylorenaeth were killed in threadfall his father stopped coming. He didn't even get the news his mother had died until a creche worker informed him of what had happened. Information about K'layu's dragon Dragon Name: Kintoth Colour: Blue Age: 12 Wing (Weyrling Group): Unforgettables (Adoptables Wing) Appearance: Kintoth is an even 29 feet from muzzle to tail, making him a fairly large blue but not as large as a small brown in size. Kintoth is sure to stand out from almost any other blue due to the pattern of his hide. Dark hues of lazurite blue sweep up over his semi-broad muzzle and end just in front of his eyeridges. Criss-crossing across his muzzle are thin lines of midnight blue that weave over his muzzle like a spider's web, except they far more erratic and unorganized. Captured within these thin midnight blue lines are various patches of lazurite blue. In some of these patches the lazurite blue lightens all the way to a sky blue in shade, while in other patches it darkens to a dark sapphire blue. All in all it creates a pattern effect that looks rather like stained glass. At the very tip of his muzzle are two slitted nostrils which are perfect for picking up a variety of scents. Half-way up his muzzle the stained glass pattern is interrupted by a thin silvery-white streak that is about two inches in length. It is in fact a shallow threadscore scar that looks a bit faded, meaning it is likely an old scar. His eyeridges are of medium size and are well-rounded, helping to give his head a more streamline appearance. His eyeridges have the same stained glass pattern with patches of lazurite blue encased within thin midnight blue lines. His bright whirling eyes are alight with an intensity that is a reflection of passionate and confident personality. The stained glass pattern can also be found upon his cheeks, which contains the most brilliant array of shades. Encased within the lines of midnight blue are light patches of periwinkle blue, pastel blue, sky blue, and glacier blue. Spread around the lighter patches are medium tones of copenhagen blue, royal blue, and cobalt blue. And finally near the back of his cheeks are dark patches of twilight blue, navy blue, and sea blue all encased within midnight blue lines. Near the back of his head are two medium sized head knobs that lack the stained glass pattern and are a solid lazurite blue in coloration. His neck is of medium length and is slightly on the stocky side, corded with the muscle needed to hold up his large head. His neck is also colored with a stained glass pattern. Midnight blue lines weave their way across his neck to encase dark lazurite blue hues into patches. The patches near the bottom of his neck however are a bright cobalt blue in color. Running down the back of his neck to end at the base of his shoulders are several triangular neckridges that are a solid lazurite blue in color. His shoulders are semi-muscular and are covered in tightly woven midnight blue lines that encase the lazurite blue into fragmented patches. His front legs are medium is size and they too do not escape the stained glass pattern. However on his front legs the midnight blue lines are wider apart, creating larger patches of lazurite blue. Each of his front feet sport a set of long lazurite blue talons. His belly contrasts with the rest of his hide because it does not contain the stained glass pattern. Instead his belly is a light sky blue, untouched by a single other shade. Upon his sleek sides the stained glass pattern continues with closely woven lines of midnight blue creating patches of lazurite blue with a few patches of sky blue scattered here and there. His broad wings are quite impressive, especially with the stained glass pattern on the top of his wings. The midnight blue lines don't cross so closely together however so the lazurite patches upon the tops of his wings are much larger and more impressive. The bottoms of his wings are a plain sky blue, contrasting with the color on the tops of his wings. His hind legs are a bit more heavily muscled than the front and retain the same stained glass pattern as the rest of his body, with thin lines of midnight blue encasing the lazurite blue into fragmented patches. Both of his hind feet have an impressive set of lazurite blue talons that have a slightly jagged edge. Last but not least is his midnight blue and lazurite blue tail that is a little over half the length of his body. Personality: Kintoth's personality is just as complex and wide-ranging as the pattern of his hide. He's a very mentorly type of dragon who likes to teach others and to help guide them to where they want to go in life. This is one of the qualities that made him an excellent Assistant Candidatmaster's dragon. Since he is very observant and listens to what goes on around him, he has quite a fair bit of knowledge to draw upon. He tends to be calm and very patient, especially when dealing with the young. He gets along very well with weyrbrats, candidates, and the occasion flit. He feels that youth are the future and the future generations will be better off the more knowledge they have. He can be very protective of the young, which he considers to be 18 and under in age. Instead of using people's names however, he tends to call others by a nickname he comes up with for them. Kintoth is rather adaptable to different situations and he's one of the few who truly has no preference when it comes to dealing with groups. Weyr of Origin: Igen Abilites and weaknesses: His endurance is good since he's almost as large as a small brown in size, but his agility suffers for it. His flame is long and he's fairly accurate with it. It is rather funny that he has a fear of gossamer spinners, especially considering his size.
