JinnaCharacter type: Weyrling Appearance: Brown-haired and brown-eyed, Jinna is decidedly plain. She's definitely a small girl, only about 4 feet nine inches, and still has baby fat clinging to her, much to her dismay. The curves of womanhood are taking their time in announcing themselves, though the irrepressible Jinna is certain that they're just around the corner. Her once-medium-brown hair has darkened, taking on a deep chestnut hue; she's permitted it to grow long, so now it reaches to the middle of her back. Her medium brown eyes are large, topping a small nose, and a ready smile which is, in fact, her most attractive feature, made more so by the recent loss of an upper front tooth, a casualty of a wild hookball game, and overzealous competitiveness on the part of another candidate and herself. She dresses in bright colors, prefering green and yellow over the darker, more depressing colors. Personality: Jinna is outgoing and friendly, and although she's already stood twice and failed to Impress, she remains ebullient, an unofficial Weyr greeter, particularly of new Candidates. Despite her youth, she is a good listener, and although she doesn't have the experience to deliver truly good advice, she will do what she can to help people solve problems. Still young and susceptible to making mistakes, she can be encouraged to become the go-between when two people are arguing, or otherwise serve as an intermediary. She has an excellent memory for names, faces and confessions; thus, those who talk to her are often made to feel special when she sees them later, and remembers them completely. She tends to be direct, and if something has been done to upset her, she is willing to go speak with the source of that hurt directly. History: Jinna was born to Terev and Lyna, journeyman harpers who traveled the northern continent, not as great balladiers, but as spies for the Harpermaster of Pern. When Jinna was born, Terev retired, becoming a teacher in a small northern hold, and Lyna continued her work, being the more talented of the pair. Jinna saw her mother infrequently, and many assumed instead, when Gyna returned home to visit, that she was Terev's sister. Jinna quickly became the Hold favorite, outgoing and talkative, and willing to try anything. A bit of a daredevil, she took on challenges, at which she sometimes succeeded, and sometimes failed, but whatever the result, she bounced back to try again the next day. Although she learned many secrets by living with her harper father, Jinna quickly learned discretion, and was never a tattletale. When Lyna died on assignment, due to circumstances still unknown, Jinna was only ten. She was never as hard hit as her father, for she had never come to know her mother well. She was more upset by the move to the southern continent, in fact, for all of her friends remained in the North. In time, though, she recovered from even this setback, and when she was Searched, she was ready to tackle even that new, alien environment. Jinna has no sisters or brothers, but has always longed for some, and so the hustle and bustle of the Weyr is quite appealing to her. Her father dotes on her, and she on him, and even though they are now separated by distance, they write regularly, and it is certain that he will appear for every Hatching for which his beloved daughter stands. Information about Jinna's pets Pet Name: Smudge Pet Type: Brown firelizard Appearance: An average sized brown, Smudge has a Personality: Smudge is a happy-go-lucky thing, taking Second Pet Name: Grue Pet Type: Blue Wher Appearance: Despite his background as a wild wher, Grue will never be quite as large as the rest of his wild brethren. Although he will be bigger than most Callamere blues, certainly, the larger of his Southern cousins will be more on par with his full-size. Whether or not this is down to his adventurous beginnings, Jinna will never know, but despite his smaller size he will be sturdy and healthy, a solid, stocky blue that can certainly stick up for himself and his ‘Jih-nuh’ when he has to! Set with a wide, strong head, much like some Terran breeds of Canine, Grue will often wear what can only be described as a ‘smile’, his jaws open and his tongue lolling free. Short of the leg and deeply chested, Grue resembles a solid ball of blue hide that would have no problem crashing through a doorway - in fact when he curls himself up to sleep, Jinna will often have to double check which end is which. It’s only when he unfolds himself that his longer than usual tail is seen, waving furiously along with his small, stumpy wings which are terribly expressive. It won’t be hard to guess what Grue is thinking, just take a look at his wings, held wide and waving at his happiest, small and folded as he sulks, it’ll be one of his many quirks. Personality: Wild whers are known for their more ferocious temperaments and in many respects, Grue will be no different. Jinna will have to work hard to keep him in check, more so whilst his training is being established and she will have to learn quick that the key to keeping Grue happy comes from keeping his mind entertained as well as his body exercised. He will be utterly devoted to Jinna and the small circle he allows into his pack (this oddly includes familial flits and other small mammals but outside his pack, they are definitely fair game!) but will tend to be cautious and stand-offish to people he doesn’t know, scrutinising them carefully. Like many of his colour, Grue will be more thoughtful than impulsive, weighing up new situations instead of just rushing in. This calmer thoughtfulness means that with the right training, Grue has the potential to be quite responsive to his training, picking up new behaviours quickly. Unfortunately this means he is just as likely to pick up bad habits as he is good ones! Information about Jinna's dragon Dragon Name: Peaboth Colour: Blue Age: 0 Wing (Weyrling Group): Weyrling Wing (Under 16) Appearance: Personality: According to Peaboth, Peaboth is Pern's smartest dragon. He has a great deal of drive to succeed in pretty much everything that is knowledge based, but he will have little interest in mindless activities like exercise. if a topic comes up that strikes his fancy, he will push to become the topmost expert on it- which probably won't win him too many friends during his training.
