E'tanName Pronounced: Ee-tahn Appearance: Large, stormy gray eyes peer out at the world from an angular, aquiline face; limned by thick, dark lashes, they seem to invite overtures of friendship. Gentle waves of chestnut hair tumble to his shoulders. Several inches above six feet, he is lean and wiry, muscles rippling beneath rich, coffee-colored skin. He has a rich, deep baritone speaking voice, the kind to send shivers down the spine, but couldn't carry a tune if you put it in a wherhide carry-sack. His hands are large, and faintly dye-stained due to his Craft. When working, he wears simple tunics and trousers, but otherwise, he enjoys showing off the fruits of his Craft, and favors fine clothes of a nice cut. Black and red are his favorite colors, and make frequent appearances in his attire. On the back of his right hand there is a long, thin scar, about which he doesn't like to speak. Personality: Easygoing and friendly, E'tan is easy to get to know; in truth, he seems a wide open book, and yet, deep beneath the surface, mysteries lurk. He is a loyal friend, courageous in defense of those he has come to feel affection for, and considerate of their desires and needs. As a lover, he is patient and committed to providing a wonderful experience for them both. He has a quicksilver wit, and a mindset that allows him to see the humor in most things, and this may be the most off-putting thing about him. It isn't that he finds others' pain amusing, but rather that when given two options, to laugh or to cry, he'd rather laugh. Much deeper in his soul, a poet lurks, spinning out lines of verse that are as well-woven as the tapestries that are his joy. When he cannot say what he dearly wishes in any other way, he will allow his lyrical love of language to do it for him. History: Esthan grew up in a large cothold in Bitra, where his mother, a journeywoman healer, ministered to the needs of the people, and his father, a journeyman beastcrafter, tended to the needs of the animals. Until he was nine, he was the only child, and was allowed to spend time working with his father, often accompanying him on rounds to check the health of runners, canines and felines alike. He developed an affinity for animals at a young age, and two large canines, Buck and Will, were his steadfast companions until he left for the tailorcraft at twelve. When he was nine, however, his sister Lashki was born. She was a beautiful baby, all golden curls and bright blue eyes, but within the first few Turns of life, everyone knew that something must be wrong. She didn't start to speak until after Esthan left for the hall, and her emotional growth seemed stunted. When Esthan returned for a visit two turns later, she was a willful child, prone to fits of temper. One day, during that visit, he found her, a knife in hand, trying to shave the cat; when he attempted to stop her, she turned the knife on him, delivering a long, deep cut to the back of his hand. Over the turns, Lashki's body has matured naturally, but her mind has not; she is still a sullen six-turn-old, prone to fits of violence and emotional outbursts. Esthan's youngest sister, Vira, is two turns younger than Lashki, and like Esthan, she shows no signs of this mental aberration. Vira is his favorite sib, and he exchanges letters with her frequently. She is already talking about apprenticing to a Craft as soon as her parents will permit. Information about E'tan's pets Pet Name: Weft Pet Type: Brown callamere flit Appearance: Weft is a large flit, rivaling the smaller bronzes in size. He is a dark chocolate brown, with horizontal stripes of caramel running across his body. Across his wings, the pattern is reversed. Personality: Weft is well-trained, for Esthan's master would permit nothing else, having a distinct dislike of firelizards in any color. Weft can carry messages, retrieve small items, and eagerly serves as the eyes for His when needed. He adores his owner, and would frankly prefer to be wherever he is. The trouble comes when Esthan is distracted, as he can become when he is hard at work. If Weft has a task to complete, he's fine, but if left to his own devices, he's a bit of a mischiefmaker. He has been known to pick of dye and add it to an apprentice's concoction just to look at the new, pretty, shiny colors, or to get tangled up in the thread on a loom, causing no end of indignation and irritation. Twice he and his owner have nearly been thrown out by master Shamalan, only to win their way back into his heart with Esthan's fine work. Information about E'tan's dragon Dragon Name: Kilmath Colour: Bronze Age: 12 Wing (Weyrling Group): Direflame Appearance: Hatching Date: 8.12.10.04: Personality: It's not that Kilmath doesn't like people, but he likes them on his terms. Not Weyr of Origin: Arolos Abilites and weaknesses: Like many bronzes, Kilmath sacrifices agility and maneuverability for a seemingly limitless endurance. His large size and tirelessness make him good at catching falling dragons, when necessary. He is good at mentoring, and mothering, the greens and blues. He stays focused in Fall, and isn't prone to unnecessary conversation. He dislikes attention, and will argue against any maneuver that strikes him as simply "showing off."
