Name Pronounced: Al-ix
Appearance: Alyx has curly hair so black that it was like the darkest night, her skin is a pale ivory with a sometimes heavy flush across the cheeks. Her eyes are wide and seem too large for her face, they are a deep green that often seems startling with the deep color of her hair. She is shorter than normal, a little over 5 feet tall and a little stocky of build, though not overly heavy. Her hands are soft but have several thin white scars from accidents while in healer training. She has a small birthmark behind the left ear that looks a little like a flower.
Personality: Alyx is generally a quiet girl, though she has a tendency to be stubborn if you go against what she thinks is best. Sometimes this gets her into trouble because she won’t always think about what she is doing. But if someone can prove she was wrong, she will make any effort to fix and problems she might have caused. She is very kind and helpful, putting others ahead of herself. She would go to any lengths to help someone that was helpless. She loves children and those that are more simple minded. Her loyalty can be hard won, but once given is almost impossible to shake. She may seem shy with those that do not know her well, but she will surprise people with a sneaky sense of humor. Alyx sometimes will not get a joke as she has a tendency to be very literal. Though this makes it sometimes difficult to joke with her it helps a great deal when she deals with her patients, who usually appreciate her softspokeness and direct approach. Most adults she deals with are glad that she is straightford and will not try to sugar coat things, instead believing that people deserve to know the truth.
History: Alyx was born to a mother that was very sickly, and the effort killed her birth mother. Her father had been a miner and had died in an accident before her mother knew she was pregnant. After being nursed by a friend of her mother’s she was raised by her grandfather, her mother’s father. Argen was a very nice man and raised her well, even if she did not have too much interaction with her peers. Her grandfather was a senior apprentice healer, retired by the time she was born. After her 12th Turn he taught her as she grew how to do the work of a healer apprentice. As she grew older she spent more time helping those that lived close with any minor medical issues that arose. As she grew older, so of course did her grandfather, who began to decline in vitality, as his joints became worse she took over more of the cooking and cleaning of the small hold that they lived in. Her best friend was a younger boy that was a cousin from her father’s side, Micel. Together the two youngsters got into some mischief but nothing that ever attracted undo notice from their elders. Throughout her childhood, her favorite story was the ones her grandfather told her about his grandfather who had ridden a brown dragon. Ever since being a little girl she had dreamed about flying through the air and had, with her cousin Micel even made a swing in a large tree to swing and pretend that she was flying.
Information about Alyx's pets
Pet Name: Ardy
Pet Type: Bronze Firelizard
Appearance: The flit that emerges from the Chasm of Despair egg, is by no means small, in fact the bronze flit will in time grow into one of the larger flits in the Weyr. His hide is a very dark bronze, though not very shiny most of the time. In the right lighting though, he gets much shinier than he usually appears.
Personality: With all dragonics, the bronzes are considered the leaders, and the strongest and smartest, golds aside. Ardy lives up to that standard. From the time he is born, Ardy will be a flit that others will want to follow. Ardy doesn’t want to lead them though, but will somehow end up doing just that.
