AliniName Pronounced: Ah LEE nee Appearance: Thin and frail, 18 turn old Alini has green eyes that look even larger in her thin face and wispy brown hair. High cheekbones stand out in her face and her jaw is strong, offsetting a low up-tilted nose. Her mouth is a delicate cupid's bow, formerly pretty but now tight from the strain she has been put through. Her hands are delicate and long-fingered, but she's missing the fingernails on her right hand, a terrible accident she'll say if asked, completely her fault. Personality: She never used to be like this. Upon one time, Alini was one of the most snobby, bossy and aggressive young women in the Candidate barracks at Fort Weyr. Now timid, she hardly says a word and tends to avoid people all together. She has learned to never look another in the eye and is submissive, never raising her voice except when in fright. Her experiences at Fort have cost her a great deal in the ways of personality. She is now a young woman who hides from the sight of those in authority. History: Once she was the daughter of a bronzerider at Fort Weyr, an important one and she was one of the most popular- and feared- girls in the Candidate barracks. After the takeover at Fort. she was taken away and everyone figured that she had followed in the fateful footsteps of her slain father. And then she returned, and almost unrecognizable from the vibrant girl she used to be. She was afraid and starving most of the time, but like many others survived as best as she could. She praised Fort. She did what they told her to do and yet, she was sent out with many of the other Arolosian candidates to die. Something in Alini broke that day and to date she has yet to fully recover. Alini is a candidate. Her colour preference is Gold, Green, Blue Read: Yes All references to worlds and characters based on Anne McCaffrey's fiction are copyright© Anne McCaffrey 1967,2005, all rights reserved, and used by permission of the author.
