MyraCharacter type: Dragonrider Appearance: Myra just reaches 5’5.” Her skin has lost some of its tan since she spends most of her time indoors these days. Her hair used to be down to her butt but is now in the classic shoulder-length weyrling cut. It is still such a dark brown color that it is often mistaken for black, containing deep blood-red highlights that are only seen when in direct sunlight. Her eyes are also dark brown, with a faint ring of green around the iris. Her body is slim and strong, though it’s obvious she’s never lifted a sword or drawn a bow. She refers to herself as mousy and plain but that is far from the truth. Personality: Myra takes a few minutes to open up to people, but once she feels comfortable her naturally sunny and sweet personality comes shining through. Ever since arriving at Arolos she has become more self-confident, but traces of her former shyness still remain. She’s very modest and doesn’t think of herself as particularly smart or pretty, but those who know her strongly deny this. She is very gentle with animals, and has a soft spot for the ugly and unwanted ones. Her greatest talent lies in her sewing. She can produce a beautiful gather gown in no time as long as the materials are available. She likes her privacy, having had none at home. She is a true Hold-bred girl, innocent in many ways and conservative in others. She is in for many surprises in Arolos... History: The term for Myra’s family is big. As in huge, massive, could-form-their-own-Hold size. At least it seems that way to outsiders. Myra is the eighth child of ten, and that’s counting just the children of both her parents. Her father Jari is a Harper, and had something of a wild youth. But he did have a sense of responsibility and thus acknowledged all his children (that he knew of) and had them all live together (along with their mothers and any other relatives who cared to) in a large home within the bowels of High Reaches Hold. Myra once tried to count how many brothers, sisters, half-brothers, and half-sisters, (not to mention the scores of cousins, aunts and uncles) she had, but got bored around thirty. Her mother Nesa is the world’s busiest woman; her Healer training comes in handy with so many clumsy littles running about. Her mother is affectionate and loves all her children, it is just so hard to give each child individual attention often. Myra grew used to this and accepted it. Information about Myra's pets Pet Name: Dragon Pet Type: Feline Appearance: Dragon is not cute. Not even close. His color is somewhere between yellow and brown, with patches of fur missing in several places due to scars picked up in several feline brawls. His ears are ragged, torn things usually plastered against his overly large skull. His tail is missing the tip, and he wears a perpetual scowl on his face. Since arriving at Arolos he's gained a lot of weight and is now a fat ball of growls and scowls. Personality: The only person who could touch Dragon without being in danger of losing an eye is Myra, who cuddles him regularly. He seems to tolerate this humiliation in that say-something-and-you’re-a-dead-human way. He regards anything of Myra’s to belong to him as well, and only a sharp word from her prevents him from guarding his territory fiercely. He’s old, and tired of kittenish games and regards other felines with distain. That is except of course for females in heat. There may be several ugly kittens roaming around the Weyr soon. He gets along with Aneyth well enough, once he established his non-snack food status. He occasionally rides around on Myra's shoulder but is usually found on her bed or prowling the kitchens. His first meeting with Aneyth didn't go peacefully but once Dragon established his non-snackfood status the two get along quite well. Information about Myra's dragon Dragon Name: Aneyth Colour: Blue Age: 18 months Wing (Weyrling Group): Skystrikers Appearance: The Fuzzy Danger Egg: There seems to be more on this Egg than one person could ever take in. Peer closely and the tawny colour seems to break down into grains of colour no larger than the sand the Egg rests on - tiny pieces of orange, brown and yellow. Move further away, blink, and look at it as a whole and the grains mold together into shapes swirling around the outside of the Egg. Stare at the grains or the larger shapes but you can't seem to see both at once - you may examine the tiny detail or the larger picture but not both at the same time. It's difficult to make out what those larger details are, even when you're further away The sharper edged ones seem vicious - seem to almost just out of the shell, ready to cut an unwary Candidate's fingers. But then they smooth out, softening, seeming almost furry as you continue around the Egg. That part seems so much softer - it's that part which tempts fingers to stroke and feel. And then it turns into sharpness again, ready to snap your fingers off. Sharp and soft, vicious and kind - round and round the egg you can go trying to work out which it is and yet never being able to put one over the other. Perhaps it is easier after all just to study the tiny grains. Personality: Aneyth's worst fault will be that he's easily led. While not bad in himself, it will be easy - too easy - to talk him into doing things he shouldn't. And, as is often the way of such things, if anything goes wrong chances are he'll be the one left to take the blame. In class and later on in drills he will at best be a half-hearted student. The fact that he's only average at most lessons is something he will take as an excuse not to try harder than he needs to. Even if he tries he won't be the best, so why bother? If something looks done... well, might as well leave it there rather than trying to perfect it.
