M'linctCharacter type: Dragonrider Appearance: Tall, but scrawny, this teenaged boy looks rather as if he just underwent a growth spurt, one he has not quite caught up with yet, all knees and elbows. Dark brown hair is trimmed so close it actually sticks straight up in places, set above features as skinny as the rest of him. Eyes so dark as to be almost black are set beneath thin brows, in a complexion darkened by the sun. Not yet a man, his cheeks are just beginning to darken with stubble, and his voice seldom cooperates with his will. However, his frame carries the promise of one day being a large man. Eventually. Personality: Somewhat serious for his age, Malinct is the kind of young man who is often the butt of jokes, because he is slow to realize humor. In fact, his thought processes often do seem somewhat slow, although this should not be confused with stupid. Still waters run deep, and Malinct may take a while to consider something, but once he has, he often comes out with all angles and multiple ideas. He treats everyone with respect, everyone as if they had the status of a Lord or Lady Holder, and is polite almost to a fault; unless, that is, he is angered...usually by somebody harming one weaker than themselves. When it is triggered, his anger is extreme, and he is far from being above resorting to physical violence when it's warranted...but only then. The most loyal of friends, his enmity is hard-earned, yet implacable. His pleasures tend to be those things that take time, tedium and love, rather than instant gratification. History: Malinct was born the second son of the second son of a cotholder beholden to Fort. Ill-suited to crafting due to being, frankly, not particularly smart, and with a holding too small to support two families, Malinct's father, Telinc, took himself and his family south, where there might be room in plenty. Impressing the Holder of Arolos with their hard work and dedication, Telinc and his wife, Makia, were given a small cothold of their own to tend. However, one thing Makia had no problems with at all was having children. With a brood of six, Kalinc, the oldest, would clearly inherit the cothold. Malinct, though...he wanted to apprentice to the Smithcraft at twelve, but stayed home two more years to give one of his younger siblings chance to grow enough to help. He was not much of a farmer, and often had his mind on other things, and spent what time he could get away with making small items that he could sell, earning a few marks, some of which he spent on a firelizard egg. Then, as he prepared to leave the cothold for the southern Smith Hall...the dragons intervened in his life. Malinct was Searched, and taken to Arolos. Information about M'linct's pets Pet Name: Torrent Pet Type: Blue Flit Appearance: Small for a blue, this firelizard is of surprisingly slender build, body and wings thin, built for speed. His hide is mostly dark, fading a little to paler colors across his wing membranes. He has an unusually long tail, which is often in motion. Personality: Always in motion, this one, the only time Torrent is found to be still is when he sleeps, and even then his tail is likely to be twitching. He rests no more than he must, and spends as much of his life as possible on the wing. Not the most loyal of pets, he often seems to as much take advantage of Malinct as a food source as anything else, although he can be affectionate at rare times. Information about M'linct's dragon Dragon Name: Capybrath Colour: Brown Age: 2 turns Wing (Weyrling Group): None Appearance: Hatched 8.13.4.17 Personality: Capybrath is above all a gregarious dragon. There are some dragons out there that really don't like people and other dragons all that much, but this isn't one of them. In fact Capybrath may be sociable enough to be a fault. He'll want to be friends with everyone and anyone from the time he is Hatched. He'll talk to his Clutchmates even while he's looking for his Lifemate and then while the Weyrling dragons are having their first meal. He'll talk through the rest of the day and into the night, at least when he's not sleeping. Then he'll wake up the next morning and start talking again. He'll talk right on through Weyrling classes. Unfortunately the things that they say are rather random and seldom have any relevance to what's going on around him and his rider. His rider will need to be broken of the habit or he'll have a lot of trouble on his hands. Weyr of Origin: Arolos Abilites and weaknesses: He'll be surprisingly agile in the air thanks to his tail and he'll have just a little bit above average stamina due to his build.
