LanickCharacter type: Dragonrider Appearance: Lanick is decently tall at about 6'0'', despite his habit to slouch to seem smaller. He keeps his light brown hair short and neat and sees the world through hazel green eyes. He's generally dressed in training leathers, never having been one to care much about clothes. He has no outstanding scars or any other features that would make him stand out in a crowd, and he hopes to keep it that. Has a very good weyrbrat expression that can be seen any time he's flustered. Personality: Lanick is traditionally a very reserved person, only speaking when he sees a need to and keeping very much to himself. He has a weakness for 'brats in need, opening up to children far faster than he will to adults. He has a very strong sense of responsibility, but it shows itself more in his personal life than in his dragon-duties. He takes pride in caring for his weyrmate's two year old daughter, as well as befriending his niece and nephew, and trading off a care schedule for Artaq, a runner, and Max, the dog. Lanick has next to no idea how to deal with adult women, grateful that he doesn't often find himself in situations where he needs to. He has a history of being prone to depressions, but lately he's found a reserve of inner strength that he never knew he had, and a firm resolve to set things right that he shouldn't have so idly watched go wrong. History: Lanick was a foster child at Paradise River Hold, looking up to his older foster sister, Halle, and helping to look after there ten younger ones. He was thoroughly miserable there, as were all the children and gained the brunt of the Holder's displeasure when Halle was Searched. His life was altered for the better the day Halle reappeared on her Golden Juleth and took him away to Arolos weyr, it just took him a long while to realise how much better. Lanick was passed over in many a Hatching, drifting between disappointment and relief at not recieving the responsibility. During this time he was befriended by a Blueweyrling, Sh'ain, and it has been the most rewarding relationship of his life. Sh'ain gave him the first push towards accepting his fate by asking for help in caring for the runner Artaq. It was about a turn after, in a Clutch laid by his sister's Gold, that Lanick met his lifemate, Thaxteth. The pair, with Sh'ain and blue Rhyth, faced their biggest challenge when an Earthquake collapsed most of the weyrling barracks. Lanick, more accustomed to being a follower than a leader, found himself having to keep two dragons and the older weyrling calm, and he's still not sure how he managed to keep everything from falling completely apart while awaiting rescue. Traumatised, he later reverted to an old habit of silence, not speaking at all, even if he tried. Thaxteth, thankfully made communication much easier during this period than when he had pulled a similar stunt back at Paradise River. He very slowly recovered and slipped into a much more natural dragon-rider lifestyle. He and Sh'ain weyrmated, connected by the bonds they shared as weyrlings and a mutual respect for other's choices. Lanick now spends most of his free time with various weyrbrats, mostly those connected to him, Shalia, Janno and Alouri, but occasionally he'll host sleep-overs in his weyr and other events for those well-behaved enough. Information about Lanick's dragon Dragon Name: Thaxteth Colour: Blue Age: 3 Wing (Weyrling Group): None Appearance: Thaxteth is an average sized blue, not too big, not too small. His hide is laced with silver, a fact he and his rider both take great pride in. He is most often seen curled on the heights near Rhyth. Personality: Thax, is, in a nutshell, nearly everything his rider isn't. Thaxteth will not hesitate to speak to any dragon, nor pass messages too any rider. He has a vicious playful streak, loving to display his distraught rider in awkward situations, particularly at the lake or the beach. Thax has never shown any inclination as a Search dragon, a fact Lanick has always been grateful for. Even so, the dragon does share his rider's love of all 'brats, never grumbling when he's asked to give rides, and often seen with several adorning him as he bathes. Weyr of Origin: Arolos Abilites and weaknesses: Thaxteth can only be described as an average dragon in fall. He has some speed, and above average agility, but neither aspect stand out. His strongest point is his flame control, both in accuracy and amount released. However, he rarely makes it through an entire Fall despite his best intentions to try, just once, to last the full time.
