Appearance: Long and slender in physical stature, Ephia stands at a comfortable height of 5’5”. Her small build gives the girl a frail appearance that is only put off by defiant stance. Ebony hair, once think with curls when she was a child, is now grown out into a heavy wave of locks that brush just past her shoulder blades. Of course, like most curly haired people, Ephia finds her mass of hair often times unmanageable. Her face, though slightly angular with high cheekbones, narrower lips, and a somewhat prominent chin, has a softness to it only ruined by a stern and almost cold presentation. Narrow forest green eyes are shadowed by the defiant front she puts on that can make her appear uninviting to others.

Personality: Proud and headstrong, Ephia is a woman who does not like to be told she can not do something and with the temperament of an unbroken runner, this filly can be dangerous to meddle with. As temperamental as she can be, Ephia does have a soft side to her. Ephia does not particularly like that she can fly off the handle, but it is something she has come to accept about herself, even though it can annoy and bother her after the fact.
Life is something that Ephia takes far too seriously. So seriously, in fact, she can have quite a hard time making friends. After all, if one is not willing to enjoy frivolous activities, how can anyone hope to make good friends? Even at Gatherings she has a hard time enjoying herself and goes through the motions required of her for such events. A small piece of her truly does want to have fun and enjoy those small moments in life that make it worth living, but the nagging thought that there is always work to be done overrides any thoughts of fun.

History: Though not the pristine childhood that many children live out, Ephia could not begrudge the life that she had. She was born into the large Arolos Hold. Her mother had previously given birth to four other children, 2 girls and 2 boys. The child before Ephia, the youngest son, had caused their poor mother some complications which were, thankfully, rectified and both mother and son lived. Ephia, was never a child that was meant to be conceived, but was. The pregnancy had been watched carefully and everything was going fine. Unfortunately, no one can ever count on the complications that occur with birth. Ephia was born but her mother, unfortunately, died from excessive bleeding.
With the untimely death of her mother, Ephia was practically raised by her milk mother and sisters. She was not officially under her milk mother’s care, but Losa stepped in to help the young girl who was missing a mother’s touch. It hadn’t been much of a stretch since Losa had given birth to her own daughter not long before Ephia was born. Her brothers did not bother with her much, as they were far too busy learning about holding or being fostered. Father was another case all together. It almost seemed like he could not even look at Ephia without seeing his wife, so daughter and father had very little connection. Thankfully, with her two sisters, Tarin and Ouna, and milk mother Losa, Ephia grew up with all the love a child would need.
It was a simple life, but had little luxuries and Ephia found herself falling into a daily routine of doing the work and studies expected of her. Her sisters were the only people who kept the young girl from falling completely into household work or studies, but once her sisters were of age, they were wedded off to other small holds, leaving young Ephia alone.
With her sister‘s wedded off it was only a matter of time until duty called her forward to wed a man. She had hoped it would be someone of her choosing but Ephia’s father had already chosen the man to take her hand in marriage, as well as her dowry.
Ephia had no attraction to the man. The man was good looking, yes, but her life with him would most likely not be the happiest years of her life. She knew of him from hear say. He was not the kindest of men and more than likely would only treat her as the mother to the offspring he so desired. This turn of events was what made her resent her father. Yes, the two of them were not close, but he had to have known the man and the type of temperament he had. Yes, this match would make a powerful ally, but was she not entitled to at least go to a man like her sisters? Someone who would treat her fairly? This was the time in her life that Ephia’s temper began to change from one of compliance to that of defiance.
With her change in attitude, her father was more than ready to wed his remaining daughter off, and the time was drawing nearer. As much as Ephia fought it, the outcome just never seemed to change until that fateful day a Bluerider came and took her away from the Hold.
