E'kanCharacter type: Dragonrider Appearance: E'kan is a full 6'4" in height when barefoot, and cuts an even more impressive figure with his riding boots on. Forced to wear shapeless, baggy clothes as a youth, he takes pride in wearing clothing that is suited for his form. His outfits are always in good shape and fit him nicely. He's hardly a fashionista, but the quality clothing does serve to show off his physique, courtesy of life with a dragon. He's never going to look like a bodybuilder--he doesn't have the frame for it--but he has the build of someone who's very comfortable tossing firestone sacks and jumping onto an outstretched dragon leg. Personality: E’kan is a thinker, first and foremost. At one point in time he yearned for a reputation as a quiet, soft-spoken man, kind in word and deed. Vaclanth put the kibosh on that. The stubborn, opinionated brown, though unsuccessful in getting E’kan to have some ambition for once in his life, did manage to convince E’kan to stop /wanting/ others to think of himself in a certain way and just /embrace/ his inner Erykan. As a result, the rider is much more likely to initiate conversations now than he ever was in his more reserved youth. History: Born at Igen Hold, to a lady in waiting-- better known as a lady's maid-- Erykan's father is a dragonrider from Fort Weyr who was with a Search team one summer sixteen turns before. Hospitality dictated the higher ranking search riders be given bed warmers and Erykan's mother was one of the chosen. What wasn't told to his mother was she'd been searched to stand for a gold egg. The Lady Holder had been told as much, and not wanting to lose her favorite maid, paid the dragonrider off in gold. By the time it was found out, the girl was pregnant, and it was too late to abort the child safely, so the Lady Holder allowed the child to be born and even allowed his mother to raise him--so long as she didn't let it interfere with her doting on the Lady Holder, of course. His mother wanted to raise her son and never pursued Candidacy further. Information about E'kan's dragon Dragon Name: Vaclanth Colour: Brown Age: 8.09.07.01 Wing (Weyrling Group): Firedance Appearance: Vaclanth's head is proportionate to the rest of Vaclanth's body, and Vaclanth's body is _big_. Fully the size of a reasonably-sized bronze, Vaclanth is more impressive than he is handsome. His head is broad and round over the braincase, and squat of muzzle. His teeth seem to be a bit _too_ large for his mouth, though in reality they fit him well-- they just naturally snaggle out, giving him a fierce look. They're rather frightening to those who don't know him, especially as he has a habit of licking in affection and greeting, and wouldn't _you_ be a tad nervous if a great brown beast with teeth bigger than your hand treated you like a lollipop? Even worse if he's on the right kind of ground, pale depleted soil of a sun-baked brown that blends with his hide and makes him look just like an innocent hillock, until he moves. Personality: Vaclanth is not a brown who thinks he's bronze. Why in Faranth's gold-tinged name would he want to be _bronze_? Bronzes are _pairbonders_, always going on about love and duty and guarding this and leading that, and that's just the riders. The dragons are absolutely sickening, and Vaclanth is extremely glad he got to you before one of those could turn his uppity little eyes on you. You've got better sense than all that. And you'll make a better Weyrleader some day, when Vaclanth catches the senior Queen for you. Lucky you, you've gone and Impressed an alpha male, with all the fun _that_ entails (just ask R'tal). He's fickle and arrogant, always pig-headed and often unreasonable, and he's in your head every hour of every day from now on. Weyr of Origin: Arolos Abilites and weaknesses: He's... strong. And stolid. Vaclanth has never really shone in Threadfall beyond his absolute tenacity. Whatever the conditions, however tired he may be, Vaclanth will fly, and fly well.
