D'kainName Pronounced: de`KANE Appearance: Standing at 5’9”, D'kain is handsome and picturesque (and he knows it). His tousled dirty blonde hair frames around his full face, is trimmed around his small ears, and curls in the back against his neck. Dark bushy eyebrows are set above hunter green eyes, his nose wide but unremarkable. A spattering of stubble is all that shows of his facial hair—he prefers the young boyish look. Personality: He lives from the day to day by his ego and using his charms to woo his way into the hearts and furs of pretty young girls. His duty is oft taken with a casual seriousness emphasised by the way he approaches even the most critical of situations with a dismissive front. He is dutiful, completing tasks in a professional, orderly manner but he will not stress over the small stuff. History: Dalkain was born in Keroon Hold among a family that was highly involved in the Beastcraft. His father and several uncles were all Beastcrafters of one variety of another while many of the women leaned towards labouring in the Kitchens or with the children. He grew up surrounded and immersed in a world of animals, the good and the bad, and yearned for the day that he would grow up and follow in his father’s footsteps. (10.06.25) The second Tunnelsnake raid. Sourith and D'kain join the fight and manage to avoid major injury, taking a laceration to the waist. (10.11.22) While Jenith rises to mate, D'kain finds himself in a precarious position with goldrider Wygelle. He remains a gentleman and doesn't take advantage of her. (11.04.10) A hurricane surges through Arolos Weyr and Sourith intends on saving the day, putting D'kain in the thick of it. He's lucky to come back alive. (11.06.30) Ormanth's first flight and though D'kain hopes beyond hope that Sourith will catch, Ormanth mates with Kaith instead. (11.07.12) D'kain has his fortune told by Yzma, the cryptic and riddling old fortune teller-- "It might be easier for you if you did leave. You've a choice to make one will lead to your salvation of a sorts the other...another's strange salvation." He leaves in a frustrated hurry; stupid fortune tellers. What do they know! (11.07.17) D'kain meets up with an old weyrling rival, Mikklae, and continue making amends between each other despite Sourith and Davarth refusing to get along. (11.12.09) Ormanth's first clutch hatches and Sourith hovers over them protectively as though they were his own, quite a memory for D'kain. It is during the FarQuesters hatching that D'kain decides not to leave Arolos. (12.10.29) Thread tornado! The Weyr avoids massive damage thanks to the efforts of Wygelle and her party, D'kain participates in the post-tornado cleanup with his wing. (12.12.30) During the Turn's End remembrance ceremonies, D'kain spares a thought for those who perished in the tornado and disasters past. (13.05.10) During Threadfall D'kain takes a stray tangle of Thread to his right leg and Sourith skips between quickly to kill it, quick enough to save most of his leg. (13.12.02) H'po skips between into time and is presumed dead; D'kain spares a thought for his lost friend and wingmate. (14.07.15) D'kain purchases a Callamere firelizard egg at Midsummer Gather. A sevenday later, after a lot of TLC, it hatches into a fiesty little blue which Sourith appropriately names Pest. (14.09.12) After spending the heat of Ormanth's flight together with Mikki, D'kain and she mutually agree that their relationship is better left to being an occasional fling. (15.05.28) D'kain and Sourith help scout out the Southern Continent and are partly responsible for the discovery of the new weyr site though remarkably neither of them try to take credit for it. (15.07.19) D'kain evacuates the weyr in preparation for the coming volcano eruption. (15.09.17) Sourith insists upon helping to clean the weyr so he enlists himself and D'kain to assist in any way that they can. After all, they are the absolute best at cleaning up volcanic messes. (16.10.10) D'kain contracts the plague and suffers from nightmarish hallucinations, convinced that he is being haunted by terrible creatures that cannot be described. He is eventually cured but not before having to be sedated to avoid injuring himself and possibly others. (17.2.9) D'kain meets the young Candidate Ember and takes her to bed with him; little does he know that he's just another notch on her bedpost. Information about D'kain's pets Pet Name: Pest Pet Type: Blue Firelizard Appearance: Pest is a pure-bred Callamere fire-lizard whose egg D'kain purchased at a Gather. Being so well-bred makes Pest a fairly large blue fire-lizard. His hide is a uniform shade of light, powdery blue that can seem light green if you stare at it too hard, the muted sort of blue you can view during a sunset. His form is sleek, slender, and reflective of prowess in agility. This particular line was bred for speed and dexterity, not strength or stamina, and Pest holds true to that remarkable lineage. In flight he is nimble and quick but if he gets ahead of himself he can tire easily and needs to rest. On a full stomach he grows unremarkably lethargic and often naps before attempting to fly. Personality: "Ow, you little pest!" Information about D'kain's dragon Dragon Name: Sourith Colour: Bronze Age: 8 Wing (Weyrling Group): Direflame Appearance: Perhaps it is his pride that has made Sourith's head a little too large, slightly out of proportion with the rest of his body. His body itself is not small, but shows signs that it could grow into one of the larger dragons of the Weyr. Maybe he will grow into his cranium. Bronzes and golds are sometimes laughingly referred to as "shinies," and this title certainly fits Sourith. His hide is shiny, the red-bronze gleaming and reflecting light. Unfortunately for his lifemate, this rather vain young dragonet intends on keeping it that way and will have no problems in demanding that it is oiled daily - or hourly if he feels like it. Personality: In fact, vanity fits Sourith all over. From the moment he cracked his shell, he KNEW that he was the best dragonet on the Sands, and it didn't take him long to decide that he would grow up to be better than all the adults either. He will be the strongest, the biggest, the best - and it will be a source of continual disappointment to him that he can't also be the fastest, as quick little greens flit past him. A born show-off, he'll want to be the first to try everything, the first to demonstrate every lesson - and there will be major huffs when anyone is better at anything than he is. Weyr of Origin: Arolos Abilites and weaknesses: Sometimes Sourith's ego still gets the better of him and he has the insatiable urge to take charge and poke his snout into places it doesn't belong. This is his main fault, but he tries to make up for it by putting all of his effort into drills and subsequent Threadfalls, exhaling flames that give any dragon the right to be jealous.
