C'larName Pronounced: K-lar Appearance: With a shock of dark curls and hazel eyes, C’lar (formerly Colflar) is surprisingly handsome when he makes eye contact. The problem is, you’d never know most of the time. C’lar is a grumpy son of a gun unless you’re his little sister, his dragon, or his very, very best friend. You would be too, if you’d had as much go wrong in your life as he had. That said, he can’t help but chuckle at each and every one of Selarth’s terrible (TERRIBLE) jokes, and when he does, he’s stands out in a crowd. Still, he walks around with a hunched back, brow furrowed as much as possible, and general “do not touch” vibes, a consequence of always being far too tall for his age, currently working on far too broad shouldered. Personality: C’lar is fiercely loyal, though he likes to pretend he’s prickly as you like, just in a vague attempt to keep riders from getting to close to him when he’s working as a dragon-healer. He quiet and hates mornings, but loves seeing the sunrise from the other side of it. He can be a little (OR A LOT) over protective of the ones he cares for, but has little interest in looking after himself if there’s anything (ANYTHING) at all else he could be doing. So he forgets to eat, or sleep, or shower (though that last one least often), but he runs when there’s nothing else to do, to drown out any mistakes he’s made. His over-developed sense of responsibility demands it. C’lar can be perfectly charming, and is if he needs something, or if you’re very new. The more he knows and likes you, the more sarcastic and grumpy he gets (it’s his natural relaxed state). If he doesn’t like you, he’ll be as oily as you like. Right up until you get between him and his job or his loved ones. You’ll rue the day… History: Born in Benden. When he was 9, he watched his Father’s Brown die from thread scoring; the next sevenday, his father followed his bonded, though the circumstances of his death were never fully discussed. Their mother died birthing his sister, so Colflar was left to look after the three year old Mellara. They stuck together in the creche, but Colflar definitely took on all of the responsibility of taking care of/coddling his sibling, while learning the dragonhealing craft as soon as possible. His moral compass, though, includes a vast grey area, which is reserved for justifying the defense of his loved ones. As they grew older, Colflar worked hard to keep up with the rest of the Apprentices, given his other responsibilities, and though he never excelled, he gained a reputation for his dependability and quick thinking under pressure (even if it was often clear he hadn’t done his reading). However, after someone accused Colflar of stealing from a wingleader (one of his superiors who'd had about enough of him), Colflar requested a transfer and Mellara seconded the motion, hedging for a quick move to Arolos for her own... personal reasons. After a bit of a rough start, both settled in, and Colflar ended up being Searched as he cared for a Thread-burned Searchrider, much to his chagrin, at the age of 18. He narrowly avoided a close encounter with several large boulders, but Impressed his beloved, if clumsy, Selarth via a full-bodied tackle. Information about C'lar's dragon Dragon Name: Selarth Colour: Blue Age: Hatchling Wing (Weyrling Group): None Appearance: From the day he hatches, Selarth’s limbs will be a bit too long for his body, giving him a gangly look, which he’ll never grow out of, but at least his longer wings will allow him to stay in flight longer. The small blue has a pale, light blue hide, that doesn’t standout, which he is quite happy about. If you aren’t being noticed it’s a lot easier to listen and learn things that you might not otherwise be told. Personality: And he needs to learn. Because even though he tries, he just isn’t that skilled at what he’s supposed to be doing. When he starts fighting thread, it’ll look like an accident every time he sears thread, though eventually he’ll get better so it looks like he knows what he’s doing. Even when it looks like he’s succeeding on accident though he’ll still do a good job at staying safe, and while he’ll definitely get scored at times, it won’t be as often as others might fear. And even when he does get scored, he’ll want to push through the pain and continue fighting thread, because more than anything else he wants to defend Pern.
