Article: Green Dragons are 20 to 25 feet in length, which is still plenty big enough. You try measuring 20 foot sometime and then sit there and consider how big something would be to fit into that description

They are the smallest of the dragons. Female, but non-egglayers - they were genetically engineered to be sterile by Kitti Ping. However, that knowledge has been lost, and the current belief is that chewing firestone makes them sterile. They do however rise to mate, about every six weeks. In a weyr that means that there are greenflights going on pretty much every other day or so - plenty of activity for the male dragons!

They are ridden by females, and gay or bisexual males. Their riders have a reputation for being flirty, and short-tempered - especially when their dragon is due to rise (when they are "proddy").

Emotion in hide-- Green Dragons are all about emotion and little about brains. It's not that they don't have brains, but they don't have the concentration to use them because they live in a world where emotions rule and things change moment to moment. They are passionate, volatile dragons, and empathic to a fault. Greens need an emotional rider who can channel this maelstrom of emotion, deal with it and hopefully draw it into calm and responsiveness.

A green is an active dragon, the hyperactive child of the family. She will be the one most likely to do acrobatics while skylarking, and the one most likely to try things she and her rider KNOW they shouldpPerhaps not do. Want, need and action are closely connected in a greens mind. Rarely is there a time for contemplation in there somewhere.

Even proddy greens are wise in that they know their limitations and strengths better than one of the metallic colors are wont to do; they have no worries that they do or do not in Fall -- they can grab clumps the larger colored dragons miss and, they will learn the moves to dazzle the eye. They are fearless, and have very little in the term of surface memory, though they do appear to remember on a deeper more instinctive level. The best way to teach a green dragon is to repeat and repeat until the action becomes instinct, their rider making it clear it would please them greatly and impress other male dragons to learn this and then there is no other dragon that can touch them for reaction time.

Greens are bitchy, smart asses who love pranks and tricks, but can feel contrite and sorrowful if someone does not like what they do, or is harmed by these tricks and will offer unconditional love and affection to those they decide are friends. Often they will be maternal, and occasionally a little smothering in their need for their rider, or their interest in what they are doing. This intensity is the reason for the greenrider proddiness - the links between a green and her rider are very strong. They are notoriously flirtatious, and somewhat fickle in their attentions, but you will get ALL their emotion whilst you interact with them...particularly in a flight. It is a heady and intense experience.

Greens can take a while to learn things, due to their attention span, and need a rider who can spark the desire they have to please rather than try to teach things just by rote.
