CANDIDATE LESSON-Seeing the EggsEntered by: Caitlin Date: 2005-07-28 Relevant to: Arolos Summary: The candidates need to be completely familiar with the Eggs so they don't panic on Hatching Day and lose their commen sense, as this could result in serious injury from a desperate dragonet. Article: "All right, all right, gather close, candidates," (insert AWLM name here) called. The candidates, tearing their eyes away from the precious Eggs, gave (AWLM name) their attention. He/she grinned as some of the candidates shifted from foot to foot as the hot sands of the Hatching Grounds penetrated their sandals. He/she *had* warned them to wear wherhide boots. "Now," (AWLM name) continued, "These are, obviously, the Eggs from which your lifemates will emerge on Hatching Day--for some of you. Remember, there are far more candidates than Eggs, so you may be left Standing come the big day. And that doesn't mean you aren't dragonrider material--it just means *the* dragon for you hasn't been shelled yet. Notice the strech marks on the shells--they will be longer next time, and harder, too. Now, move around among the Eggs, touch them, feel them, stroke them. We don't know if it does any good, but it certainly can't do any harm!"
