CANDIDATE LESSON - Robe sewingEntered by: ArolosBoD Date: 2005-01-14 Relevant to: Arolos Summary: "One of the things that is most recognizable about a Candidate or that people think of, is their white robe." Tiella lifted an armful of them up to demonstrate. "Now, obviously they are not really going to fit you so one of your tasks is to adjust and sew your robe to your fit. If you ask me why you are doing something like sewing, and yes this includes those of the male persuasion, I will break a horrible secret to you... You'd be AMAZED at how much sewing you have to do as a dragonrider. So doing the simple line of a candidate robe is an easy start. And if necessary you will do it several times until it is right so don't try a bodge job on it. You want it to look good, after all it may be the first thing that your lifemate sees you in." Tiella picked up a pile of paper with the patterns on them "Right. Here are the instructions for the most basic type of robe which to be honest is a little more than a sack with holes in it. There are more advanced patterns you can attempt, but everyone will have to have completed a basic robe at least." She smiled. "Be careful with the needles, there are only a few metal ones, the rest are mainly bone, but even so they are not easy to replace. Make sure they and the scissors are returned to the Candidate stores and signed in and out. You can work on this at any time, but I will ask to see your work and assist you in one session per sevenday to note your progress...okay? Right...good. Take your material, patterns and lets see how you get on."
