MONTH 12 - General InformationEntered by: ArolosBoD Date: 2006-08-01 Relevant to: Arolos Summary: "Your dragons are now approximately 85% of their full size and their growth rate slows even more now than it did before. " D'fyd announced. "Bronzes should be somewhere around the 31 ft mark, browns around 27-28 ft, blues, 23 ft and greens around 19 ft. Now your main task this month will be learning the mysteries of firestone even more so than you already have. Yes, your lifemates will be learning to flame this month, and you how to assist them.” D’fyd waited for the murmur of excitement to die down. “This is a big step in your Weyrlinghood towards becoming a full fledged dragonrider. You’ll specifically need to learn how to judge how much firestone your particular dragon need. You’ll also need to know how to select good grade ore. This is especially important. You don’t want your dragon complaining about his stomach and you don’t want to get a small flame just when you need a large one.” He nodded knowingly and continued. “You’ll also be learning how to flame in flight and in formation. This requires a lot of concentration otherwise you will be toasting each other’s tails.” A ripple of laughter spread across the room and D’fyd gave a small smile of his own. “You find the funny now, but the first time your dragon taste a burning lick from a flame you will not be laughing at all.” He was happy to note the laughter had died appropriately away. “You will continue betweening along with the weyrling errands and a select few will shadow sweepriders.” A few cheers were called out as more than one Weyrling had hopes of bring selected for this duty. “If you are deemed responsible enough and far enough advanced to be out on a long sweep for several days with them you may be chosen. I know you’ve worked hard and those that have will start to see the benefits of there achievements paying off. All of you will have a review of your progress at some point this month and we will take note of your progress and identify possible weaknesses to work on. Weaknesses are not something to be ashamed of unless they are hidden. If you have any worries about your dragons’ or your performances so far don’t hesitate to let us know. You can’t get help unless you ask.” D’fyd took that opportunity to look around at the Weyrlings assembled and nodding, dismissed them to go about their lessons. They knew by now they could come to him after the lecture with any questions they might have.
